Ganglion Cysts

Ganglion cysts are common, non-cancerous and harmless mass or lump in the hand that may be filled with fluid. They can quickly appear, disappear, and change size.

Characteristics of Ganglion cysts:

  • Cause: No known cause OR arthritis in the finger joint

  • Symptoms: Visible lump that does not cause any symptoms if it is not putting any pressure on the adjoining nerves. It can cause pain, tingling, and muscle weakness if cyst puts pressure on nerves.

  • Treatment: Surgeon can remove the stalk of the cyst for cosmetic purpose and to eliminate the chances of its reoccurrence.
