Ankle joint affected by arthritis is generally swollen, warm on touch and red in appearance. These symptoms can occur due to some other reason too.

Characteristics of Joint Swelling, Warmth and Redness:

  • Cause: Arthritis of the foot and ankle like osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and posttraumatic arthritis

  • Symptoms: Pain along with swelling, warmth and redness over the joint

  • Treatment: Arthroscopic debridement (cleansing) is performed to remove loose cartilage, inflamed synovial tissue, and bone spurs from arthritic joint
