Tenderness when Pressure is applied to the Joint

Tenderness is pain on touch and whenever pressure is applied to the ankle joint. This is one of the classic signs of arthritis.

Characteristics of Ankle tenderness:

  • Cause: Arthritis of the foot and ankle like osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and posttraumatic arthritis

  • Symptoms: Pain on applying pressure over the joint

  • Treatment: Arthroscopic debridement (cleansing) is performed to remove loose cartilage, inflamed synovial tissue, and bone spurs from arthritic joint
