Although elbow joint has well matched joint surfaces and strong stabilizing ligaments, but still it can be affected by osteoarthritis due to damage or wear & tear of the cartilage surface of the elbow.
Characteristics of elbow arthritis:
Cause: Previous injury such as elbow dislocation or fracture OR age related degeneration
Symptoms: Pain, swelling and loss of range of motion along with “grating” or “locking” sensation in the elbow.
Treatment: Arthroscopy surgery is performed to remove any loose bodies or inflammatory/degenerative tissue in the joint along with smoothing of irregular surfaces.
