Hip Joint Infection

Hip joint can be infected due to many reasons. And, hip joint infections can be arthroscopically classified as follows:

  • Stage I: Opacity of fluid, redness of the synovial membrane.
  • Stage II: Severe inflammation, fibrinous deposition, pus, no radiological alterations
  • Stage III: Thickening of the synovial membrane, compartment formation, no radiological alterations

Symptoms

  • Swelling
  • Pain
  • Warmth or redness around the hip joint

Treatment

  • Debridement with Prosthesis Retention
  • Resection Arthroplasty
  • Arthrodesis
  • Reimplantation
  • Amputation (Disarticulation)
